What Happens When You Die in Crimson Moon?
Updated September 4, 2026
A normal death consumes one life from the current pool and lets the attempt continue. When the pool is empty, true death ends the run: unpurified gear is lost, but XP, gold and equipment purified before the run remain permanent.
A Death Is Not Always the End
The helmet icons in the HUD represent the current life pool. Losing health consumes a life until none remain.
What True Death Removes
True death closes the active run and removes loot that was never brought home for purification. It does not wipe the account.
What You Keep
- Experience points
- Gold
- Previously purified equipment
- Knowledge of routes and enemy patterns
How Difficulty Changes the Risk
Higher settings can make the same pool harder to protect and may alter available lives. Choose the highest difficulty you can finish consistently rather than the highest one unlocked.
