Crimson Moon PC System Requirements

Updated September 4, 2026

Crimson Moon needs Windows 11 64-bit at both tiers — Windows 10 is not listed at all. Minimum is a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1070, RX 5700 or Arc A580. Recommended is a Core i7-10700K or Ryzen 5 5600X, 32 GB RAM and an RTX 3070, RX 6700 XT or Arc A770. Both tiers need DirectX 12 and 50 GB of storage.

The Windows 11 Requirement Is the Real Gate

Windows 10 does not appear at either tier. That is unusual for a 2026 release at this price and it is the single most likely reason a machine that clears the GPU and CPU bars still will not be supported.

If you are on Windows 10, treat the listing as a hard requirement rather than a suggestion until the developer says otherwise — driver and DirectX 12 behaviour on an unsupported OS is exactly the kind of thing that produces crashes nobody will help you debug.

The RAM Jump Is Bigger Than the GPU Jump

Going from minimum to recommended doubles memory from 16 GB to 32 GB — proportionally a larger step than the CPU or GPU tiers, which move roughly one generation and one class.

In practice that means a machine sitting between the two tiers is more likely to be limited by 16 GB of RAM than by its graphics card. If you are choosing one upgrade before playing, memory is the cheaper and more likely fix.

Ray Tracing and Stability

Ray-tracing-related crashes appear on the developer's own known-issues list. If you are hitting crashes during combat on hardware that clears the recommended tier, turning ray tracing off is the first thing to try, ahead of any driver reinstall.

Storage and Install Notes

  • 50 GB at both tiers — an SSD is not formally required but strongly advised
  • Shader compilation stuttering was reported specifically on the Epic Games Store build
  • Steam and Steam Deck save-sync failures are on the known-issues list
  • Surround Sound is listed under sound at both tiers

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you play Crimson Moon on Windows 10?
The Steam listing specifies Windows 11 64-bit at both the minimum and recommended tiers. Windows 10 is not listed as supported at either level.
How much RAM does Crimson Moon need?
16 GB is the listed minimum and 32 GB is recommended. The doubling between tiers is a larger relative step than the CPU or GPU requirements.
What GPU do you need for Crimson Moon?
A GTX 1070, RX 5700 or Intel Arc A580 at minimum, and an RTX 3070, RX 6700 XT or Intel Arc A770 for the recommended tier. Both require DirectX 12.
How much storage does Crimson Moon need?
50 GB of available space at both the minimum and recommended tiers. An SSD is not formally required, but shader compilation stuttering was reported on the Epic Games Store build, so a fast drive helps.
